The human impact on the mineral kingdom: Mineralogy of the Anthropocene Epoch
GENS Public Programme
The “Anthropocene Epoch” is manifest in hundreds of new human-derived minerals. Since the advent of human mining, manufacturing and constructing, mineral-like compounds have vastly increased Earth´s mineral diversity. In relation to the installation “Re-Forming Materials” as part of the International Exhibition, Robert M. Hazen will engage the audience to think about how humans interact with our planetary home.
Speakers: Robert M. Hazen (Mineralogist and Astrobiologist, Carnegie Institution of Washington´s Geophysical Laboratory, Clarence Robinson Professor of Earth Science at George Mason University, Executive Director of the Deep Carbon Observatory)
Moderated by: raum.land (René Rissland, Martina Dietrich)
